Michal Babinec is a Slovak cinematographer shooting narrative, documentary, music video and commercial projects. Since 2020 he is a member of the Association of Slovak Cinematographers (ASK). He studied cinematography in ECAM film school in Madrid. Selected projects include feature film La Mala Familia (Netflix, IFFR 2023), experimental feature Europa (Moscow & Thessaloniki IFF 2017), documentary feature When We Were Wild (Best Documentary Feature @ Alcances 2017) short films Asterión (Locarno Film Festival 2022), Project Motherhood (Zinebi 2021) and Niña (Best Cinematography @ Alcine 2015). The music video Califato 3/4 – Fandango de Carmen Porter won Best Cinematography in the UKMVA 2021 and was part of the music video competition at Camerimage 2021. His commercial work includes projects for brands such as Lacoste, Volkswagen, Škoda, Coca-Cola, Asahi, Telekom, Orange, Eastpak, Samsung, Mastercard and many more. He is Berlinale Talents 2018 alumni and part of BRBR film collective. He resides in Bratislava, Slovakia.
